About this event

  • 2 hours

Join us for a field session to practise your identification skills for summer butterflies and day-flying moths. This will take place at the National Trust Bradenham Estate: an estate in an area considered amongst the most scenic in the Chilterns. An area with pockets of good-quality chalk grassland and scrub, on the edge of ancient woodland.

The focus will be on building your confidence in the accurate separation of common species from scarce species, not a long species list.

You will get the most out of this event if you have attended Nick Bowles’ online Zoom training on the key points of Identification (4th July): https://us06web.zoom.us/j/89476278844?pwd=nHkorai1uSfkhmBTuGBvRDTuTiiq7J.1 Meeting ID: 894 7627 8844 Passcode: 080781

A pair of close-focusing binoculars and a butterfly net would be useful if you have them.

Accessibility & risks: some steep slopes and rough paths. Please check for ticks after the walk and let the leader know if you have picked up any ticks. (Tick advice)
