Anglican Futures: Head On A chance to meet together in the presence of God, to discern how best to trust him and serve him going forward.
About this event
Anglican Futures: Head On
Our first in-person gathering.
Like our Ideas Exchanges the plan is to keep things simple.
We'll begin with Morning Prayer.
Then, later in the morning we can look forward to some stimulating input from Mark Meynell and Matthew Mason- - with plenty of time to talk to each other, ask questions and try out ideas.
Mark will be unpacking the Challenges to our Hearts as we move forward after these difficult years.
Matthew will be explore the Challenges to our Minds - delving into some theological futurology - to help us think about the trends and ideas that might shape the world and the church in the next twenty years, so that we can be better prepared.
Lunch will be provided and give further opportunity for conversation.
In the afternoon there will be a number of options - some will reflect the ongoing work of Anglican Futures; Ministry in Deprived Areas, On The Edge and learning from our global brothers and sisters - others will follow on from our morning conversations. If you have a burning question about the future or an area or issue of ministry you'd like to talk through let us know and we'll see what we can do to facilitate a conversation.
Finally, we will come back together for a plenary discussion and Evening Prayer.
Booking
Places are limited and will be offered on a first-come first-served basis. If you do discover you can't make it after you have booked a place please let us know so we can offer your space to someone else.
Cost
Tickets are FREE. We are suggesting a donation of £15, payable on the door, towards the work of Anglican Futures BUT we know just getting to these kind of events can be expensive enough so please don't worry about donating anything. There will also be a few travel bursaries available - so please don't let finance be the reason you don't join us.
Getting There
The St Michael's Centre is a five minute walk from Bristol Parkway - with regular trains from Wales, Birmingham, London and the South West. It is less than a 10 minute drive from M4 (J19), the M32 (J1) and the M5 (J16) and there is plenty of parking. Please indicate if you would be prepared to share a lift with someone coming from your direction.
If you are coming from further afield we will arrange some kind of shared transport from Bristol Airport so let us know when you are arriving and we will see what we can organise.
Accessibility
The venue is accessible to wheelchairs and we are told there is a hearing loop. If you would like us to provide further information please contact us.
Arriving Early/ Staying On
The St Michael's Centre is quite close to various budget chain hotels - Premier Inn, Travelodge etc if you decide to make an overnight trip. Some of us may eat together the night before and again after the conference (there is a pub/restaurant round the corner from the Centre). Again let us know your plans and we will do our best to ensure you are included.
Theological Convictions
Anglican Futures looks to the Jerusalem Declaration (2008) as an expression of generous Anglican orthodoxy. We ask that those who attend our events respect this, even if they cannot personally subscribe to it.
