The Elegy: Poems for the Lost & Missing Poetry Writing Workshop

<p>One of the great classical forms, the elegy has continued to evolve, and may be written to express grief not just for a loved person, but for a relationship, identity, place, way of life or for losses in the natural world. How do we articulate our sorrows – whether personal, communal or universal – in a clear, measured way that bears the weight of such emotion? While infused with melancholy, the elegy can also be vibrant, imparting warmth, humour and hope. We’ll read contemporary elegies for inspiration and follow experiments to generate our own poems.</p>
