Overview

In a world where the lives of strangers & survivors are weighed & traded for political gain, this Cressida is determined to define her value

The wind whips her hair, as she watches the soldiers go by. And a bright face is lifted towards her, full of longing. He swears she’s fair and rare as a pearl. But he doesn’t know the grit within her. For Troy must fall, and Cressida – alone; among strangers - must learn the arts of survival and transformation.

To the medieval poets who shaped her legend, changeful Cressida was fickle, false, and heartless. But Cressida’s Tale follows this anti-heroine’s journeys from mythic Troy to England’s royal court, the bitter cold of the Scottish coast, and an Elizabethan London seething with anti-migrant rage. In the process, it discovers a Cressida for our own times: a girl with a gift for resilience and reinvention.

In a world where the lives of strangers and survivors are weighed and traded for political gain, this Cressida is determined to define her own value.

Poetic, incisive, and timely contemporary storytelling from Stephe Harrop.
