Antimicrobial Resistance Café

The NIHR Community Healthcare MedTech and In Vitro Diagnostics Co-operative (MIC) brings together experienced health researchers, industry, end users and clinical experts in the development and evaluation of diagnostic tests that transform community healthcare by working with industry to deliver studies in the NHS.

A key approach to reducing the threat of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is to improve the appropriate usage of antibiotics in community settings. The AMR café will provide the opportunity for researchers from the NIHR Community Healthcare MIC and its strategic partners with expertise in antimicrobial stewardship and diagnosis of common infections to have a focused discussion with companies who are developing new point-of-care diagnostic technology with a community AMR focus.
Five 40-minute appointments will be available for companies to meet the panel. Companies will have the opportunity to make a 10 minute presentation of their diagnostic followed by a discussion regarding the technology, the next steps required in evidence generation and the potential for collaboration. The aim will be to take promising technologies forward beyond the meeting into collaborative funding applications which will allow the required evidence to be generated.
We invite interested developers of diagnostics to register their interest to attend the café. Successful applicants will be notified by Wednesday 21st November, and up to 3 members of their team will be able to attend the appointment at Trinity College Oxford.
