Manchester Parent Carer Forum (MPCF formerly PACT) is funded by the Department for Education and aims to work in partnership with Manchester City Council, Health and Education settings to shape and influence services, to ensure they are fit for purpose and meet the needs of disabled children, young people and their families living in Manchester.MPCF understands the day to day challenges faced by parent-carers, as we are parent-carers too. The aim of MPCF is to give parent-carers a voice and to make their views heard in the improvement of services for our children.

Free training delivered by One Education for Manchester parents/carers whose children experience Anxiety-Based School Avoidance (ABSA)

Educational Psychologists from <a href="https://oneeducation.co.uk/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">One Education</a> are running a free workshop for Manchester parents/carers whose children experience Anxiety-Based School Avoidance (ABSA), which may also be known in other areas as <a href="http://manchesterparentcarerforum.org.uk/anxiety-based-school-avoidance-manchester-schools-guidance-document/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">emotionally based school avoidance</a> or school refusal.These sessions will cover:<ul><li>What is anxiety-based school non-attendance? Why does it happen?</li><li>Who is at risk? How can we spot the risks early on?</li><li>What can be done to reduce anxiety in children / young people?</li><li>Helping parents/carers to speak to schools on their child’s behalf and explain to school how their child is feeling</li><li>The "Assess-Plan-Do-Review" process</li><li>What works to help children, young people and families?</li><li>How different services can help</li></ul>
