This is the first in a series of seminars with experts who use AI methodologies to research health and health-related issues, providing an introduction to their work and the methods they apply.

We are pleased to welcome:

• Dr Colin Campbell from the University of Bristol Intelligent Systems Laboratory who will discuss novel machine learning methods for cancer research
• Dr Ryan McConville, Lecturer in Data Science, Machine Learning and AI, who will talk about machine learning using data from in-home sensors and technology for characterising patient health and recovery.
• Professor Andy Dowsey, Chair in One Health Bioinformatics and Biostatistics, School of Social & Community Medicine and School of Veterinary Sciences, who will illustrate machine learning and Bayesian modelling for predicting health status from biomolecular and activity data, and antimicrobial resistance rates from susceptibility data.

The talks will be followed by an open discussion and opportunities for networking. The seminar is open to all University of Bristol colleagues with an interest and/or experience of artificial intelligence in health research.

The Health Data Science research strand is a cross-Faculty initiative which focuses on building Bristol capacity to carry out interdisciplinary research that makes the best use of existing, routinely collected data to improve health, care and services.
