Overview

Full 2 Day ASIST course

The aim of ASIST is to help people become willing, ready, and able to provide emergency first aid to persons at risk of suicidal behaviour.

ASIST is a two day course that aims to help people to recognise the signs that someone is considering suicide, and to gain the skills and confidence to respond appropriately. It has been described as a form of ‘suicide first aid’.

ASIST was developed by Livingworks in Canada and is widely used around the world. It is delivered under licence by accredited ASIST trainers.

The course is a mixture of presentations, discussions and role play exercises and by signing up to attend this course you will be expected to participate in all elements of the training.

Please be aware that you will be asked to draw on your experiences of suicide. The aim of this course is to equip you with the skills to support people with suicidal thoughts, but is inappropriate for those who are struggling with their own mental health issues and we encourage you to seek support from your GP if this is the case.

Cancellations must be made at least two working days before the event, cancellations made after this time, and non-attendance will be charged £75.

This is a free course and you will need to provide your own lunch.

As part of the registration process you will be asked whether you are happy for us to keep your contact information so we can email you information about future courses.
