TheFestival of Natureis back from the 7-15th June in the West of England and online!This year our theme is WATER. Wherever you are, find out how you can help protect our precious water habitats at home. We hope you have fun, try something new, and – most importantly – feel inspired to take action for nature.Festival of Nature is organised by the Natural History Consortium a collaboration of 13 organisations working together on a shared mission: to engage everyone with the natural world through collaborative action.

Festival of Nature 2025

Festival of Nature is the UK’s largest celebration of the natural world, taking place 7 – 15 June across Bristol and Bath.

Wild Weekend 2025

Head to Millennium Square in Bristol City Centre on 14th and 15th June for Wild Weekend. Here are all the bookable events happening during this fun-filled weekend.

In this lively talk, our panel of nature experts will each champion their favourite water-dwelling animal or plant – sharing fun facts, quirky traits, and why their pick deserves your vote. From dazzling fish to weird and wonderful plants, you decide the ultimate aquatic winner!Doors open at 12:45pm and the talk will begin at 1pm. <h3>Speakers and their chosen species</h3>Billy Heaney (Wildfowl &amp; Wetlands Trust)Billy is a zoologist, wildlife presenter, filmmaker, and keen paddle-boarder, who has featured on BBC Countryfile and is a regular panellist on BBC Radio 4’s Nature Table.Chosen species - White Tailed EaglesOften known as the 'sea eagle', the impressive White Tailed Eagle is the UK's largest bird of prey. The species sadly went extinct in the UK in the early 20th century, and the present population is descended from reintroduced birds.William Tonkin (Bristol Aquarium)William is an Aquarist at the Bristol Aquarium, with expertise in marine biology and biological oceanography.Chosen species - Big Bellied SeahorsesAlso called the 'pot-bellied seahorse', the beautiful Big Bellied Seahorse is one of the largest seahorse species in the world, with a length up to a whopping 35cm!Mark Everard (University of the West of England)Mark is an Associate Professor of Ecosystem Services at UWE and has published over 30 books on ecosystems, sustainability and fish. He is a contributor to radio and tv broadcasts relating to nature and water ecosystems, including BBC Springwatch, BBC Tales from the Riverbank and BBC Radio Wiltshire.Chosen species - All animalsThere are so many amazing water-dwelling animals - let's hear about as many as we can! <h3>Accessibility</h3>This talk will take place in Rosalind Franklin Room in We The Curious.
