Aqui Thami: Open Studio & Talk

The White House is a new public space for art and social activity on the Becontree Estate in Dagenham. We host artist residencies, creative workshops, community events, and more - all designed in collaboration with our neighbours. Come along - all events are free and open to all.

<DIV>You’re invited to join us for Aqui Thami’s final residency open studio & talk event on Tuesday 15th January, 6-8pm at The White House, Dagenham. </DIV>
<DIV><BR></DIV>
<DIV>Aqui will open up her studio, showcasing the work produced during her residency as well as some of the political posters and zines that have influenced her. Aqui will be discussing her practice and her experience of the residency with collaborators. </DIV>
<DIV><BR></DIV>
<DIV>Join us to share some food and to bid Aqui farewell as her residency comes to an end. </DIV>
<DIV><BR></DIV>
<DIV>As part of Aqui’s three-month residency hosted in collaboration with the V&A Research Institute (VARI), Rabbits Road Institute and Rabbits Road Press, she has been researching the V&A’s rich collection of political posters with a view to engaging local communities in East London in their own artistic practices using the Risograph printer at the Rabbits Road Press, working alongside OOMK. </DIV>

<DIV>During her residency Aqui launched a collaborative art project, ‘DIY Rabbits Road’, working with young women in Manor Park, Newham and beyond to explore local identities and make art that celebrates the power of community. </DIV>
