Event description
2021 Archbishop Blanch Lecture

About this event

Stuart Blanch, former Bishop of Liverpool and later Archbishop of York excelled in his roles as teacher, author and theological educator. The lecture series established in his name and now in its 25th year, seeks to enable lay and ordained Christians to understand and engage with the contemporary questions of faith and society.

This year we are delighted to welcome Professor Elaine Graham to deliver the 2021 Lecture. Professor Graham is Canon Theologian of Chester Cathedral and formerly Grosvenor Research Professor at the University of Chester. A notable author, her recent book Apologetics without Apology ( Cascade 2017 ) will form the basis of her presentation which will address how we can learn ' to speak Christian' in a world troubled by religion, and where faith sits alongside secular beliefs. The Christian viewpoint is but one of many. Our 2021 lecture will challenge us to dig more deeply into our faith in order to commend it more confidently, in word and deed, to others.
