About this event

Arts • Fine Art

Join us for a conversation with sculptor Cathy de Monchaux and archive and legacy specialist Ellie Porter as they discuss the vital role of archiving in an artist’s life and practice. Together, they’ll reflect on that process, sharing insights into the practical and creative challenges of preserving a lifetime of work, and why it matters for an artist’s legacy. Drawing on Cathy’s 40-year career and Ellie’s wide-ranging experience supporting artists and estates through projects with leading galleries, archives, and institutions, this discussion offers an open and inspiring look at how artists can begin to shape their own archives and ensure their stories live on for the future.

This event runs in tandem with Artists Supporting Artists, an exhibition exploring the 211-year legacy of the AGBI and how generations of artists have uplifted one another through advocacy, creativity, and care. Together, the talk and exhibition highlight the importance of supporting artists lives past, present, and future.
