Event description
A day of debates, workshops and networking to celebrate Scottish-Arctic links and explore new avenues for cooperation and policy-exchange

About this Event

Scotland is a close Arctic neighbour, linked through culture, geography and history to the world's northernmost region. Over recent years, Scotland's cooperation and engagement with the Arctic has increased starkly due to a full realisation of our shared interests and common policy priorities. From tackling climate change to empowering rural communities, from encouraging sustainable growth to pursuing new research & innovation projects, the partnership between Scotland and the High North is becoming wider and more diverse. Thanks to a combination of long-standing ties and new collaborations, Scotland is establishing itself as the European gateway to the Arctic.

Organised by the Scottish Government in conjunction with Highlands and Islands Enterprise, the Arctic Day will provide a free and public forum for debates and knowledge-exchange on the past, present and future of Scottish-Arctic connections.

Scotland-based experts will be joined by a number of international speakers to stimulate discussions on current and future bridges between Scotland and the High North.
