Book Launch for 'Climate Adaptation: Accounts of Resilience, Self-Sufficiency and Systems Change'

Come to our in-person book launch for our upcoming publication, 'Climate Adaptation: Accounts of Resilience, Self-Sufficiency and Systems Change'. This book will showcase real sustainable alternatives to the current socio-economic model of extraction and exploitation of people and the environment in order to provide a constructive and informative vision of a positive future. It takes an unflinching look at climate change – drawing upon the latest data to analyse what the next decades hold in store.With atmospheric CO2 at unprecedented levels and insufficient action being taken to prevent a rise in temperatures above 2 degrees centigrade, we are not just looking at significant disruption but the possibility of societal collapse.For the first time ever, the magnitude of this challenge is faced head on, with avenues to truly address it presented. Case studies and models from 16 authors around the world show ways that we can build adaptation and resilience, as well as what ‘zero emissions’ really mean.Our event will consist of three of our authors giving talks about their pieces in the book and the themes that extend from this, with 45 minutes of talking, 30 minutes for a Q&A session and 30 additional minutes for mixing and book signing. Authors at this event: - Rupert Read, an environmental philosopher who focuses on 'Transformative Adaptation'.-Renuka Thakore, founder of Global Sustainable Futures, who is contributing to a piece about the effects of climate change on oceans. *UPDATE* Unfortunately, Renuka Takore will not be able to attend the live event nor to record a presentation.-Dr Jane Riddiford, founder of Global Generation, who focuses on community gardens in London.Free teas and coffees will be provided. We can't wait to see you there! Please note that the maximum capacity for the Mitchell Library is 45 people, so we cannot guarantee entry - it will be on a first come, first served basis. The event will be recorded. Update: copies of the book will be available to buy but CASH ONLY will be accepted!
