About this event

Biophilia

noun

  1. an innate love for the natural world, supposed to be felt universally by humankind.

'Reviving Biophilia' celebrates the beauty and wonder of Scottish wildlife through mixed-media, semi-abstract art. Alanda Calmus uses intuitive painting techniques to create her unrepeatable pieces. Fine detailing and vibrant colours bring the fauna of Scotland to life in unexpected ways. Each piece is a testament to the innate connection between humans and the natural world, inviting reverence for the wild landscapes and creatures that call Scotland home. Alanda’s aim is to encourage a love and respect for the environment we share and an understanding that our fates are intrinsically entwined.

The exhibition is open during normal Gallery opening hours; 10am to 5pm Monday to Saturday

Is there a charge?

No, entry is free.

What are the travel options?

There is plenty of free parking signposted throughout the town, with electric vehicle charging available in the public car parks. You can take the bus or train; both stop nearby our end of the High Street. Cyclists are welcome to use the Gallery's bike rack.

How do I find the venue?

Alchemist Gallery is very easy to find, at the east end of Dingwall's main shopping street. Look out for our dark blue frontage.

How accessible is the venue?

Our main gallery space is upstairs. There are usually some works from each exhibition in the ground level shop, along with lots of other work to view in the mixed displays. We are happy to show images and bring specific work down for customers unable to use the stairs; please just ask.

What else is there to do in Dingwall?

If, like us, you enjoy having real conversations, with real people, in the real world, we think Dingwall High Street is well worth a browse. The town offers a great range of services, quality independent shops, a selection of good places to eat, and has a rich and fascinating history.
