Every Wednesday from 7th July - 11th August a variety of artists, led by Rosie Priest, will be hosting sessions for young people at North Edinburgh Arts, exploring different art making techniques. Inspired by the places and spaces in and around North Edinburgh young people consider important, we will be working with:

• Sculpture
• Photography
• Illustration
• Zine making
• Print making
• ... and loads more!

Suitable for all young people ages 11+ who fancy exploring different art techniques. The art works made during the sessions will help to create a community zine and map of North Edinburgh which will be freely available in libraries, schools and community centres throughout Edinburgh.

We'll provide everything you need to join in, including snacks. And there'll be tools and equipment for you to take home and play with in your own time like cameras, printing equipment, sketchbooks and loads more!

Session 1: Introduction to maps and flag making

Working with Rosie this week will be lead artist Hannah, who has experience working with film, theatre, photography and art. We'll start to explore North Edinburgh and think about the places and spaces in the neighbourhood. After some initial warm up illustration exercises (which are also useful for when experiencing creative blocks at home), we'll be designing and making some giant flags for some of the places and spaces in North Edinburgh. After this session you'll get a sketch book and some tools to take home with you.

Please note:

To make sure everyone is safe and can take part comfortably, numbers will be limited in line with current Government Covid-19 guidelines.

Places are free but advance registration will be required, and priority will be given to North Edinburgh Arts Good Neighbours and local residents of Muirhouse and Pilton (postcodes EH4 4, EH4 5, EH5 1, EH5 2).
