Event description

Description

You are invited to come to hear from artists who have most recently had international opportunities, supported by British Council and Hospitalfield, and take part in a discussion of how residencies abroad can help artists develop their work.

The British Council and Hospitalfield share a joint aim to support the arts ecology of Scotland. In the last four years the two organisations have worked on several residencies which have brought international artists to the region and created opportunities for artists based in the DD postcode region to have residencies in other countries.

Now seems like a good moment to discuss and reflect on this activity with artists living and working in Dundee. Hospitalfield’s Summer Residents will also be part of the audience and we encourage any artists who have residency experience or who would like to have opportunities outside of the town to come along.

The focus of the discussion will be on the importance of international exchange for artists?; asking what are the benefits?; how does the experience impact on the artists; and how can it effect how they work in the future?

The conversation will be led by the contributors, Camille Chedda, Joanna Helfer, Ranjeeta Kumari and Sumesh Sharma, and opened out to discussion with the artists in attendance.

Places are limited and we are arranging catering for the event so would appreciate if people can book up soon.
