Description

Event: ASE Teach Meet Science FREE CPD Wednesday 8th November 2017 4.15-6.15
Venue: Lanchester Interactive Archive, Coventry University Library, Gosford St, Coventry.

What is a TeachMeet?. Anyone can share great ideas they've trialled in their classrooms, a teaching resource they love, a great website, a classroom activity - whatever you like! You can ask questions or simply turn up to soak up all the great ideas and enthusiasm. It is about being engaged and inspired by our immediate colleagues and gaining a lot of networking to boot!

What can you do? You can just come along and be a member of the audience if you like, you can give a 2-4 minute nano-presentation on one of your favourite science teaching ideas, or you can give a 6 a minute micro-presentation on an aspect of classroom science teaching. You don't have to be an ASE member, just enthusiastic about teaching,

Please sign up in advance and get your ticket so we can organise refreshments.

The Lanchester Interactive Archive is a new space based in Coventry University’s Lanchester Library that aims to share and explore the story of Britain’s ‘Leonardo da Vinci’. Using augmented reality, serious games and even a real Lanchester car, the inventions and engineering genius of Fred Lanchester are brought to life for students of all ages. As the creator of the first all-British motor car in 1895 and author of over 200 patents on everything from flying machines and inflatable buildings to turbo-charging and four-wheel drive, his little-known legacy is a fantastic resource for bringing to life STEM subjects and much more. Come to the Teach Meet and see the space for yourself and meet the Outreach team, who are available to come into schools and facilitate free workshops or book visits to the space itself for a unique trip.

There will be stands to peruse whilst you are having refreshments (IET, Science Magic, Medical Mavericks, Hands on Scvience, Bringing Science to Life, Primary Science Teaching Trust, Code Clubs...more to be confirmed) and presentations from:
