Assignments Without Meltdown: From Assignment Brief to Submission

Assignments Without Meltdown: From Assignment Brief to Submission

Assignments can involve far more than simply “doing the work”.

You need to interpret a vague brief, work out what the question actually wants, find and organise information, decide what matters, start writing, manage perfectionism, keep track of the deadline, and somehow do all of that while juggling the rest of your life.

For neurodivergent students, that combination can create a cycle of avoidance, overwhelm, last-minute panic and burnout.

In this 90-minute interactive workshop, we’ll break assignments down into a clearer process and explore strategies for:

  • understanding the brief and identifying the real task;
  • getting started when the assignment feels too big or unclear;
  • breaking work into manageable stages;
  • managing research without disappearing down endless rabbit holes;
  • moving from thinking and researching into writing;
  • dealing with perfectionism and “not good enough yet” thinking;
  • planning backwards from a deadline; and
  • creating a final stretch that doesn’t depend entirely on adrenaline.

You’ll receive a practical workbook you can use during the workshop and reuse for future assignments.

The goal isn’t necessarily to make assignments effortless, it’s to make the process more understandable, manageable and sustainable.
