ATA Carnet

Online event
Thursday, Apr 30 from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm GMT+1
Overview

Our Trade Ready Training courses are aimed at helping you become trade compliant no matter where you are on your export journey.

This practical training course is designed to provide UK businesses with a thorough understanding of ATA Carnets—what they are, when and how to use them, and the procedures involved in applying for, presenting, and returning Carnets. The course will equip participants with the knowledge needed to efficiently move goods temporarily across borders for trade shows, professional equipment, and commercial samples, while avoiding unnecessary costs and delays.

The course is suitable for exporters, logistics coordinators, compliance officers, and operations staff involved in international trade.

Learning Objectives:

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

1. Explain what an ATA Carnet is and its purpose in temporary goods movement.

2. Identify which goods and destinations are eligible for ATA Carnet use.

3. Understand the UK application process, associated costs, and timescales.

4. Navigate the correct procedures for presenting ATA Carnets at borders.

5. Avoid common pitfalls such as misused Carnets, non-compliance penalties, and late returns.

6. Confidently manage ATA Carnets internally or in coordination with logistics providers.

Break-down of Topics:

1. Introduction to ATA Carnets

2. Eligibility & limitations

3. Application Process

4. Using the Carnet abroad

5. Common pitfalls and penalties

6. Post-use and record keeping

7. Q&A with wrap-up

Feedback: 'You answered all my questions within the training, which is why i had none at the end. I was happy that it was practical advice, rather than theory and directing to the Gov website which i find a lot of training is.'
