"Audition Techniques" with Fourth Monkey

ACT II aims to bridge the gap between London's student theatre and the industry. We create spaces, opportunities, and communities where young artists can learn about the theatre industry, access a community of fellow emerging creatives, and test out new ideas. As well as our brand new training programs and workshop opportunities, ACT II Creates and Play In A Day, we host a monthly networking event, ACTOut for emerging theatre makers in London to connect with one another in a pressure free environment. Every Spring Term (January - April) ACT II runs its student festival. This is a chance for student playwrights, directors, and performers to work with individuals from a different place of study to their own to make a short piece of new theatre. As part of the student festival, ACT II hosts an exciting program of industry-led workshops, Q&As, and mentoring. Thinking about auditioning for this year’s London Student Drama Festival? Join ACT II & Fourth Monkey to learn all about audition techniques

A 2 hour workshop exploring how we can play with space and shape to find nuance, and organic choices in our audition speeches. Participants can expect to play with text, move their bodies, and follow their impulses, in an effort to find playful and bold performances . This workshop will be for any young theatre-maker ages 18 - 26 interested in learning more about the audition process. Whether you’re an actor, writer, director, or maker you are bound to end up in an audition room at some point, and ACT II and Fourth Monkey want to demystify the audition process for everyone.This will be a super relaxed and supportive space that will give you an opportunity to try new things, ask questions, and just give it a go! With auditions for the London Student Drama Festival taking place on the 4th &amp; 5th of February this will be a great opportunity to practise your audition technique, learn all about ACT II, and meet some of the writers &amp; directors that will be casting for their plays in February.

F﻿ourth Monkey will be working closely with ACT II this year as we both believe in creating professional but playful spaces for young theatre makers to explore, make, connect, and push their creative boundaries.Fourth Monkey is an inclusive contemporary Drama School in London and Bristol, with professional actor training and creative theatre courses at undergraduate and postgraduate level: 1. With the annual ACT II Festival running from January - April 2023 this will be a great chance for you to get to know ACT II and to meet fellow young theatre makers in London. We will be hosting a networking and social event after the workshop for those wanting to stay around, make creative connections, and hear about all things ACT II.ACT II is a creative program bridging the gap between student theatre and the industry. We provide a creative development program for London Students, giving them access to skills workshops, Q&amp;As, and tips from those currently working in the industry.
