What are Power Hours?

The Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA) designed the Power Hours to give you access to up-to-date information and deliver key messages relevant to your role. It gives the opportunity to engage with DfE/ESFA specialists and network with other finance professionals.

When are these sessions run?

Sessions are monthly, predominately the 3rd Thursday of every month for 3pm-4pm but this can change if there has been a school holiday.

How do I find out about these events and register?

Upcoming events will be advertised in the ESFA Update and via Eventbrite. To find out directly about our events you can be added to our mailing list by emailing afp.events@education.gov.uk.

Why should I attend?

Feedback has been really positive with over 80% of attendees finding the sessions ‘really useful’ or ‘somewhat useful’. It is a chance to hear directly from departmental specialists on subjects key to the role of a finance professionals working in schools or trusts.

Will there be an opportunity to ask questions during the Power Hour?

You can ask questions via the chat function. The presenter will endeavour to answer as many questions as possible. If a question is of particular interest to you, please use the like function as priority will be given to the most popular questions.

I’ve dialled into the session but I cannot hear anything/see the slides.

Accepted Answer

Try leaving the meeting and re-joining to see if that helps. This can be a problem if logged in from a phone or mobile device - it may help to log in through a PC or laptop. Having other applications open can affect Teams calls, please consider closing any applications not currently being used.
