Author David Nolan’s ‘Manc Noir’ thrillers all set in Oldham, all named after real life bodies of water and all based on events he’s experienced as a journalist. His latest book, The Ballad of Hanging Lees, is a revenge thriller set in the dark world of online grooming. His previous books - Black Moss and The Mermaid’s Pool - have tackled child protection and the rise of the Far Right. David became a fiction writer by accident after a successful run of music biographies, including books on Tony Wilson, the Sex Pistols and Ed Sheeran. But a crime from his own childhood changed all that. He’ll be explaining how it all happened at Oldham Library.
