In 2023, Gita released her debut novel for young readers 'The Destiny of Minou Moonshine', a fantasy book set in an alternate India. It follows the adventures of Minou Moonshine, a fierce orphan girl on a quest to save her queendom from dark powers, and was longlisted for the Branford Boase Award in 2024.

Gita’s second novel, ‘The Voyage of Sam Singh’ is due for release in July 2024. In this, land-pirate Sam Singh sails to the Isle of Lost Voices to look for his missing brother Moon, with the help of intrepid young guide Lola. They trek to the interior, where ancestral spirits guide them to discover the truth about Moon and set right a terrible injustice.
