Social Communication Pathway Sensory Differences Pre & Post Diagnosis Group

Manchester Parent Carer Forum (MPCF formerly PACT) is funded by the Department for Education and aims to work in partnership with Manchester City Council, Health and Education settings to shape and influence services, to ensure they are fit for purpose and meet the needs of disabled children, young people and their families living in Manchester.MPCF understands the day to day challenges faced by parent-carers, as we are parent-carers too. The aim of MPCF is to give parent-carers a voice and to make their views heard in the improvement of services for our children.

Manchester Parent Carer Forum

This workshop is for parents/carers of children and young people on the Social Communication Pathway (SCP) waiting list and post-diagnosis.

Crossacres Family Hub

This workshop is led by a Specialist Occupational Therapist in the Social Communication Pathway and will provide the opportunity to:<ul><li>Develop your understanding of sensory systems. E.g., Touch, smell, taste, movement and introduce less familiar systems such as proprioception and interception.</li><li>Consider how autistic individuals may experience sensory differences.</li><li>Think about how sensory differences can affect everyday activities.</li><li>Explore strategies that may be considered when supporting an autistic individual.</li><li>Hear about the experiences of other families and share your own experiences if you wish.</li></ul>Biscuits, tea and coffee will be provided. However, lunch isn't covered so please make sure to bring your own food for the lunch break.If you need an interpreter to access the session, please email <a href="mailto:mft.scppostdiagnosticworkshops@nhs.net" title="mailto:mft.scppostdiagnosticworkshops@nhs.net" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">mft.scppostdiagnosticworkshops@nhs.net</a> with at least a week’s notice before the session.
