Staff can get a rare insight into what it’s like to live with autism when the Autism Reality Experience comes to North Bridge Leisure Centre on Wednesday 5 February. This innovative awareness-raising attraction is coming to Halifax during National Children's Mental Health Week as part of a Summit being organised and led by young people from Calderdale with Autistic Spectrum Disorder. People taking part in the Experience are given simple tasks to do while distracted by flashing lights, noises, smells and textures, simulating the heightened sensory input experienced by those with autism. As we expect it to be very busy, and in order to manage demand, you need to choose an hourly time slot. You will take part in the Experience at any point during this hour, depending on the number of people also choosing this time slot. To avoid disappointment, please arrive on time at the start of your allocated time slot. Please note there may be a small queue, depending on numbers.This event is being booked via Eventbrite.
