About this event
Join us for a night of back to back film premieres, created and directed by some of the biggest upcoming Black Filmmakers in the Midlands, at Everyman Cinema.
Followed by a Q&A with the Filmmakers, aswell as Award-Winning Filmmaker and BACK IN Producer, Daniel Alexander.
Following the success of BACK IN, a nine-month talent development programme for black filmmakers in the Midlands, we are proud to be premiering brand new short films from the regions best upcoming filmmakers.
On Monday 27th & Tuesday 28th September; you may laugh, cry, feel nostalgic, get the shivers, and feel every other emotion, as you watch a selection of film premieres from filmmakers that have been a part of BACK IN over the last four years.
This year's BACK IN cohort of 5 Midlands-based filmmakers are:
- Charmaine Quailey (Actress, Presenter, Managing Director at OutKast Productions)
- Stefan Davis (Filmmaker, Assistant Director for BBC's Doctors. Feature debut at BUFF 2020)
- Adaya Henry (Actor, Poet and Writer, featured on ITV News & BBC. Debuted solo show at the Birmingham REP)
- Elishah St Juste (Actor & International Filmmaker, focusing on ‘challenging mindsets through the arts')
- Kelsey Reid (Writer, Director and Graduate of the Northern Film School)
Doors open at 5pm.
Must be seated by 5:30pm.
Now in its fourth year, BACK IN is produced by Punch and managed by professional filmmaker Daniel Alexander. It's delivered through nine months of micro-bootcamps, by recognised professionals from a range of backgrounds, supporting the next generation of Black filmmakers. Each filmmaker that graduates from the programme gets commissioned to create a short film, which premieres at a Birmingham-based cinema venue.
BACK IN has commissioned over 20 films from black Midlands-based filmmakers over the last four years.
Please note that some films may have an age rating higher than 12. It is up to your discretion if you wish to bring children.
