Date and time
A general walk around Badock's Wood Local Nature Reserve
About this event
This walk is taking place as part of Bristol Walk Fest 2022: www.bristolwalkfest.com
A general walk around Badock's Wood Local Nature Reserve in Southmead.
Badock's Wood is a small, semi-natural, broad-leaved woodland along with a number of wildflower meadows. It also has a number of attractive wooden sculptures and benches.
It lies in the north-west of Bristol, between Henleaze and Southmead. It therefore provides a wildlife haven in an urban setting. There is also a Bronze Age burial mound see photo.
This hidden haven for wildlife has an accessible gate at Doncaster Road and much of the walk will take place on tarmac paths in reasonable condition.
There are some slopes but most of the walk is on the flat.
We will stroll around enjoying the nature reserve, and walk leader Frances Robertson will point out things of interest.
Frances is not a bird, tree or wildflower expert.
