This panel aims to explore the challenges surrounding access to health data for AI research in the UK.

It will bring together experts from healthcare, academia, data governance, and the technology sector to discuss barriers and propose strategies for overcoming them.

You do not need any prior knowledge of AI to enjoy this event.

Speakers

Dr Anna Barnes is Director of the King’s Technology Evaluation Centre in the Faculty of Life Sciences & Medicine at King’s College London, an HCPC registered Clinical Scientist and President of the Institute of Physics and Engineering in Medicine.

Ahmed Binesmael is Senior Improvement Analyst at The Health Foundation. His work focuses on major research projects centred around attitudes towards health technology and data, innovation, and adoption. Prior to joining the Health Foundation Ahmed was an Economic Analyst and Senior Policy Adviser at the British Medical Association (BMA).  

Dr Ben Holgate is Senior Research Fellow in Machine Learning in the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience, King’s College London. He is currently working on a research project that applies AI and Natural Language Processing (NLP) to electronic health records.
