Background Information

We’re looking for your input into what should go into the new framework for Basic Digital Skills.

The Tech Partnership, working with Lloyds Banking Group, has launched a consultation to develop a new UK framework for Basic Digital Skills. The existing Basic Digital Skills framework was launched in 2012, but we know that digital skills don’t stand still, and the benchmark for participation in the digital world has moved on significantly since 2012.

We know you’re supporting hundreds of people in your community to improve their basic digital skills, so your experience and knowledge is crucial to ensuring the new framework represents your learners and will support their skills development in the future. We want to ensure the Online Centres Network, and the wider community sector is represented, so we need to hear from you!

What are we doing to support the consultation?

Here at Good Things Foundation, we want to ensure collectively we are contributing to the consultation sharing the vast experience and expertise you have of supporting people every day to develop their basic digital skills for life and work.

We are holding a number of engagement workshops across the country, and together we’ll explore:

  • the skills and knowledge you’re currently supporting people to gain to be confident internet users

  • the skills and knowledge people will need in the future

  • the pathways taken by digitally excluded people as they gain basic digital skills

And finally, together we'll review the revised framework against your experiences and gather our recommendations to submit to the national consultation.

How long will it last?

Our interactive workshop will last around three hours and breakfast refreshments will be provided on arrival at 09.30 and the workshop will start 10.00.

Why come along?

  • Help shape the future of Basic Digital Skills delivery

  • Make sure our sector is represented sharing what is happening on the ground, day to day

  • Meet other like-minded organisations

For information: the national consultation opened on the 23rd January and will close on the 20th March 2018. Good Things Foundation will be collating all the feedback we receive and we will share our final findings with Tech Partnership and Lloyds Banking Group as well everyone taking part in the workshops and webinars.
