Basic Life Support (BLS)
For Registered Nurses, Nursery Nurses and Senior Health Care Assistants working in healthcare settings
Basic Life Support (BLS) skills can make a critical difference in an emergency. This practical and interactive training session ensures healthcare professionals remain up to date with current national guidance and best practice in life-saving interventions.
Participants will develop the confidence and competence to recognise and respond to medical emergencies, perform effective CPR, use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED), manage choking incidents, and understand the management of anaphylaxis in the community setting.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
- Recognise and respond appropriately to a medical emergency.
- Perform high-quality cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in line with current guidelines.
- Safely and effectively use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).
- Recognise and manage choking in adults.
- Understand current guidance relating to the recognition and treatment of anaphylaxis in the community.
- Demonstrate increased confidence in applying life-saving skills in real-life situations.
