This course is run over 2 consecutive days. 
Day 1:

Day 2:                                    
Registration Time     08:15  Course Start Time    08:30 Course End Time     17:50
The course is comprised 3 main areas:

<LI CLASS="MsoNormal">Open surgery</LI>
<LI CLASS="MsoNormal">Trauma and orthopaedics</LI>
<LI CLASS="MsoNormal">Minimal access surgery</LI>
</UL>
The course uses:
<UL>
<LI CLASS="MsoNormal">hands-on practice</LI>
<LI CLASS="MsoNormal">individual tuition</LI>
<LI CLASS="MsoNormal">assessment with individual feedback</LI>
</UL>
The Basic Surgical Skills (BSS) course is strongly recommended for all surgical trainees taking up their first surgical appointment. It is also open to Foundation doctors intending to follow a surgical or related career.
Trainees take away a course handbook and if they successfully complete the assessment, will be issued with certification that is recognised by all four royal surgical colleges.
