Bat Walk
Join us for an evening walk through woodland with a local bat expert.
Organised by Purbrook & Widley Area Residents’ Association (PAWARA).
Nik Knight of Hampshire Bat Group will guide us on a walk through Johnston's Coppice. A variety of bat species have been recorded in the woodland and the surrounding area.
As bats are most active between April and September, there is a good chance of activity during the evening. Bat detectors will be lent to participants, so if we don’t see any bats, we should hear some.
The route follows woodland paths which are uneven in places. Not suitable for wheelchairs or prams/pushchairs. There may be some mud if we have rain close to the event.
Total distance around one mile.
Please wear suitable clothing and footwear for the weather conditions. We recommend bringing a torch and wearing warm clothing. It will be cold during the evening and there will be a lot of standing around.
Meet at the entrance to Johnston’s Coppice, Purbrook Way, Crookhorn, Waterlooville.
(Next to the bus shelter, traffic lights opposite College Road.)
No parking at the start. Please park in the Lidl car park on the other side of the A3(M) (approximately 300 yards east of the start).
All welcome.
Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
No dogs.
Weather – The walk is not practical in very wet or windy conditions. In that event we will cancel or postpone the walk.
