Event description
BCU Type Talks: Rainer Erich Scheichelbauer: Making a Difference: Type Design and Politics.

About this Event

Contrary to popular belief, fonts are not merely beautiful hobbies for type nerds or simple tools for any task, but can really make a difference. Join type designer Rainer Scheichelbauer on a tour through the political side of type design. Plus: Fonts can also be fun, so be in for an extra treat at the end of the lecture.

Rainer Erich (‘Eric’) Scheichelbauer was born in Vienna, and studied photography, philosophy and Dutch. Today, he creates and produces typefaces, teaches type design, and translates Dutch books into German. Internationally, he is best known for his involvement with the font editor Glyphs, for which he has been writing tutorials, handbooks, as well as Python scripts and plug-ins.
