Think you need fancy equipment to build your brand or create content? Think again. This practical, hands-on session will show you how to use the phone you already have to create authentic, professional-looking content that connects and converts.

Whether you’re a small business owner, freelancer, side hustler, or community leader—this session will help you show up online with confidence and creativity.


You’ll Learn:

✅ How to film high-quality videos using natural light and basic settings
✅ Tips for capturing strong photos and short-form videos (Reels, TikToks, Stories)
✅ Framing, lighting, and sound tricks that make a big difference
✅ Easy-to-use free editing apps for phones (CapCut, InShot, Canva)
✅ How to plan your content visually—and feel confident doing it

Be Courageous with Technology is a fully funded programme that helps women and young people from underrepresented backgrounds, to build confidence using digital tools in a way that feels relevant, practical, and empowering. No coding. No jargon. Just real-life applications.

Do I need any tech experience to attend this taster session?

Absolutely not! This session is specifically designed for beginners or those who feel anxious around technology. We'll start from the basics and create a supportive environment for learning.

Is the event really free?

Yes, the taster session is completely free of charge. This programme is funded by the National Lottery Community Fund. Our aim is to make digital skills accessible to everyone, regardless of financial circumstances.

Will this be a very technical session?

We focus on practical, accessible learning rather than complex technical concepts. You'll get hands-on experience with everyday technology in ways that build confidence and skills you can use immediately.

What if I don't have a laptop?

We will provide computers for everyone to use during the session. You don't need to bring any devices with you.

Will refreshments be provided?

Light refreshments and tea/coffee will be available during the session.

How many people will be attending?

We limit attendance to 10 participants to ensure everyone receives personalized attention and support.

What if I register but can't attend?

Please let us know as soon as possible if you can't attend, as we often have a waiting list. You can cancel your registration through Eventbrite or by contacting us directly.

Can I attend if I don't identify as a woman or from an underserved background?

This programme is specifically designed to address the digital skills gap affecting women and underserved communities. We prioritise places for these groups, but please contact us if you're interested and don't fall into these categories.

How long is the full "Be Courageous with Technology" programme?

The complete programme runs every 2 weeks until end of August, 1h30min each session. This taster session gives you a preview of what to expect.

Will this help me get a job?

The taster session introduces concepts around digital employability. The full programme includes dedicated modules on CV development, digital portfolios, and job search strategies that can significantly enhance your employment prospects.
