About this event

Beaing the Bounds is a traditional walk around the Boundary of Macclesfield. It was once a popular event in the Macclesfield calendar. We are bringing this free community event back to celebrate our wonderful town and surrounding countryside while using the opportunity to fundraise for a selection of local charities who need our support, now more than ever.

? Where does the walk go?

The full route is approximately 21miles, following traditional boundary markers around Macclesfield. We also have a shorter route available (8 miles) for accessibility.

Who can take part?

Everyone is welcome! Whether you're walking solo, with friends, family, or in a team, we encourage all abilities to join. All children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

? Do I need to pay to enter?

No—this is a free community event! However, we welcome donations to support our partnered charities. Please set up individual Just Giving pages or download a sponsorship form from our facebook event page.

? Do I need to sign up in advance?

Please register online via our Eventbrite page to help us plan logistics and ensure a smooth experience.

? What should I bring?

✅ Comfortable walking shoes ✅ Weather-appropriate clothing ✅ A reusable water bottle (hydration stations available) ✅ A packed lunch & snacks to keep energy levels up ✅ A Strava app (optional) to track your walk Hand Sanitiser for along the way, a personable first aid kit is advised

? Are there toilets along the route?

Yes! We’ve identified key toilet stops, including Teggs Nose Country Park.

? What happens if I need assistance during the walk?

We have designated checkpoints with volunteers, and First Aiders will be available along the route.

? Will I receive a certificate for completing the walk?

Yes! Everyone who completes the walk (any route length) will receive a certificate at the finish line. We ask you to return back to the registration desk at the end of the walk. If you decide to terminate the walk along the way, please notify the nearest checkpoint or whatsapp the event organiser

Are dogs allowed?

Yes but dogs must be kept on a lead at all times.

How do I go about fundraising?

Take a look at our selected charities on our Facebook page, choose your charity, set up a Just giving page so the charity benefits directly and instantly. If you prefer pen and paper, please download a sponsorship form from our Facebook page and collect money the old fashioned way.

Are there any rules?

✅ RULES OF THE WALK • You are responsible for your own navigation and wellbeing • This is not a race, enjoy the walk at your pace and respect others • Always look after yourself and your group, especially at crossings or in rural areas • Treat farmland, wildlife, and public spaces with care

Participants can choose from three route lengths, making the event accessible to all ages and abilities. The walk will feature checkpoints with refreshments.

Call for sponsorship and community support

Local businesses and community members are invited to support the event through sponsorship and participation.

Sponsorship packages include logo placement on event materials, recognition in promotional activity, and the opportunity to have a presence at the event. All funds raised will

support the event and be distributed equally among the six chosen charities, supporting vital services and initiatives within the Macclesfield community.
