An immersive audio experience inviting you to listen to the inner life of trees

An immersive audio experience inviting you to listen to the inner life of trees.

Come together under the magnificent old beech trees in Alexandra Park, Bath, and listen to ‘The Man Who Became a Tree’ – a powerful story written by the visionary science fiction author, Olaf Stapledon. The story is accompanied by sounds recorded in forests by musicologists, Professor Annie Mahtani and Teddy Hunter, at the world-leading Birmingham Institute of Forest Research (BIFoR), University of Birmingham.

BECOMING TREE is designed to foster more inclusive and creative ways to engage communities in the natural world. This event is accessible to those with and without visual impairments. Afterwards there is an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to research on nature and inclusion, for which you will be paid for your time.

The first hour is a listening event under the trees, and the second hour is an optional focus group about the experience – people with will be paid for their time for attending the focus group. The focus group session will be indoors.

Once booked, you'll receive an email with further information. Any queries about this, please contact Dion Dobrzynski by email d.dobrzynski@bathspa.ac.uk or by phone 07494 703 370.
