Beekeeping Taster Sessions

North London Beekeepers [NLB] has been the home of beekeeping since the 1930s for many beekeepers in the London Boroughs of Camden, Islington, Hackney, Haringey, Westminster and parts of Brent and South Barnet.   Our teaching apiary is in grounds close to Kenwood House and Highgate Village.   We opened an additional apiary in November 2017 in Muswell Hill.Our aims are to promote apiculture and to educate the general public in beekeeping by holding classes, lectures and discussions on beekeeping and running stalls at local festivals showing live bees and selling honey.We provide advice and assistance in numerous ways to beekeeping members of NLB, welcoming beginners, novice and experienced beekeepers to our ‘beekeeping club’.North London Beekeepers is affiliated to the Middlesex Federation of Beekeepers’ Associations and the BBKA [British Beekeepers’ Association], representing our members at area and national levels.   Beekeepers are supported by the “National Bee Unit”, which comes under the Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA) and provides Regional Bee Inspectors as well as research teams.www.beekeeping.org.uk

BEEKEEPING TASTER SESSIONS
For anyone thinking about keeping bees, these two hour ‘taster’ sessions will provide a short overview of beekeeping, bees and hive management. They will give you the opportunity to find out if beekeeping as a hobby is for you. Each session will be led by experienced members of North London Beekeepers and include a ‘hands on’ session with bees and hives at our teaching apiary in North London near Kenwood House and Highgate Village.
Protective beekeepers suits will be provided. Please wear long trousers, long sleeved tops, wellies or trainers.
Price includes refreshments
NB: At the end of each session participants will be able to book onto our comprehensive 2019 Beginners Beekeeping Course. We advise attending a beginner beekeeping course before buying bees or equipment.
These sessions are for adults and young people over 18 years.
