Beetlemania
Description
Get up close and personal with beetles and bugs on Saturday 10 October 2015.The insects will be taking centre stage at our special Beetlemania event at Wigg Island in Runcorn.
This is the third nature event be organised by construction consortium Merseylink and the Mersey Gateway Environmental Trust.
Local ecologist Jeff Clarke will be leading the event, which takes place at 10am-12noon and is repeated at 1pm-3pm.
Beetles are fascinating insects and this is a great opportunity for local people and families to find out more about a bug’s life. We’ll be demonstrating safe techniques for finding and catching beetles, collecting and identifying ladybirds, and log turning to find ground beetles in various locations on the site.
Those who take part will also discover what beetles eat and what eats them, the function of warning colours, the food chain, and the relationship between predators and prey.
Tickets cost £2 for adults and the event is free for children under 16. All profits from the ticket price will go to local environmental charities.
