Beginner Drawing - After Hours Museum Class
Learn the basics of drawing after-hours with our Beginner Drawing Classes taking place over 3 Fridays, Feb-March 2026
Our Beginner Drawing Classes are suitable for those who have never picked up a pencil, or for people who have tried some drawing but had no training or lessons. They will take place at our fantastic museums across London with a different venue each week.
As well as encouragement and guidance, we will provide you with all materials you will need! Just bring yourself and an open mind 🤓
This listing is for booking individual classes which are part of a 3 week drawing course. Although part of a course, the classes are absolutely suitable to attend as a one-off as we know that a 3 week course may not be possible for everyone!
If you would however like to join us for the full 3 week couse running Friday 27th Feb, 6th March and 13th March 2026 please see our Eventbrite page for this listing. By purchasing a ticket for the full course you will receive the lessons at a slightly discounted rate (compared to purchasing individual weeks) and your ticket will include an A3 sketchbook of your own to take home and keep.
Learn to draw with a friend, partner, neighbour or auntie! Use code FRIEND at checkout and select one Bring a Friend ticket to receive 20% off your second ticket. Max 1 per person.
What does the course cover?
Each week in a 2 hour session we will cover one of three foundational concepts of sketching, all while working on your creative confidence. These are:
👀 Observation
📐 Proportion
🕶️ Shade
See The Agenda section below for a more detailed break-down including locations so please refer to this when choosing which day you wish to attend.
🌍 Location We will make use of our great museums and galleries in central London by first visiting the National Gallery, then the National Portrait Gallery and finally the V&A.
FAQ's - Please check the FAQ's on the listing. We are very grateful to the National Gallery, National Portrait Gallery and V&A for allowing private tour groups and art sessions so ask all attendees to abide by their guidelines so that we are allowed back! If you have any other questions about our events please don't hesitate to get in touch, we will try to respond within 24 hours, or 48 hours over the weekend.

Agenda
-
Week 1 - National Gallery - 27/02/26
On week one at the National Gallery we will work on observation. After warm-up exercises designed to help you loosen up and get your brain and hands talking to each other, we will do a mix of group exercises drawing objects, faces and figures to help your observation skills, moving through the gallery and looking at different styles of art. At the end of the evening we will share our work as a group and admire what we've drawn!
-
Week 2 - National Portrait Gallery - 06/03/26
During week two at the National Portrait Gallery we will focus on proportion. We will build on our observation skills from week one and our warm up exercises should jog your memories and free up your creativity. The portraits in the gallery will help us learn basic proportions of the face and body, and raise awareness of where they sit on the page.
-
Week 3 - The V&A - 13/03/26
Our final week of the course takes us to the sculpture galleries of the V&A. After our warm up we will focus on learning to see areas of light and shade while translating 3D sculptures into 2D sketches. Bringing our drawings together at the end, you will be able to see how far you have come from week 1 and reflect on how you can use the skills we have introduced to take your drawing forward in the future!
