Beginner-Friendly Wire Sculpture Workshop

Islington MuseumLondon, England
Monday, Feb 16 from 10:30 am to 12 pm GMT
Overview

Create your own wire sculpture! Join us for a relaxed, hands-on wire sculpting workshop inspired by Islington Museum’s latest exhibition.

Explore the art of wire sculpture in our Working with Wire workshop, where experienced artist Jacky Oliver will guide you through creating bold, beautiful 3D artworks.

Suitable for beginners and for anyone looking to try a new creative skill, this workshop offers plenty of space to experiment, play with materials, and learn wire‑sculpting techniques at your own pace. You’ll discover how to shape wire safely and confidently, use pliers effectively, and build simple forms that grow into your finished sculpture.

Our tutor, Jacky Oliver, is an artist and metalworker with a passion for teaching. She studied at the Royal College of Art and works from her studio at Cockpit Arts in Bloomsbury. Jacky has taught everyone from toddlers to university students and community groups, creating a warm, supportive environment where participants can relax, experiment, and build creative confidence.

No previous experience needed, just bring your curiosity and enthusiasm!
All tools and materials are provided, with plenty of time for experimenting, asking questions, and enjoying the making process.

Advance booking is recommended, but a limited number of walk‑in spaces may be available on the day depending on capacity

Age guidance: Suitable for ages 7+.
Children must be accompanied by an adult.
