Do I need dance experience?

Nope not at all! Contrary to popular belief, Burlesque is actually not even a type of dance. It's an art form all about movement and individuality and celebrating self expression. This class is perfect for complete beginners looking to find their feet.

What if I don't feel confident enough to attend?

It makes you a perfect contender as Burlesque is about building confidence which this class is designed to do. Many students join specifically to grow their confidence in a supportive, non-judgmental environment.

What should I wear?

Anything that you feel comfortable in and that's easy to move in. Leggings, joggers or dance wear are perfect. Heels are optional and not essential.

Do I have to take my clothes off?

This is a non strip class so we'll be keeping our clothes on! Besides, Burlesque is about performance, character and expression first and foremost.

What kind of atmosphere is the class?

Friendly, body-positive and supportive. This is a space where all shapes, sizes, ages and experience levels are welcomed and celebrated. You must be a minimum of 18 to attend but my oldest student so far was 76 and she was simply fabulous!

What will we actually do in the class?

You'll explore classic burlesque movement, character and confidence exercises as well as learning a fun showgirl routine. There is also an opportunity for group work, interacting with others in a playful environment all at a relaxed beginner's pace.

Is Burlesque about being sexy?

Sexy is just one branch on the tree of Burlesque but it's not the goal. Burlesque has so many more branches from glamorous to funny, theatrical to silly and even powerful or playful.

Can I come on my own?

Yes! Many students do. It's a lovely way to meet new, like minded people from different walks of life.
