About this event

Welcome to the Earth Kin Beltane Women's Circle "The Portal" with Hearth Keeper, Ellie Brooks!

Join us on Fri May 03, 2024 at 19:00 at The Ancient Technology Centre, as we gather around the fire for a cosy evening in the small Iron-Age Roundhouse to explore the fiery, protective energies of the ancient gaelic festival of Beltane.

Deeply rooted in authentic connection, celebration, and sisterhood, this event will be led by sacred storyteller and folkloric ceremonialist, Ellie Brooks, who will hold space for us to explore the enchantment of Beltane through gentle ritual, lore and more.

The evening will include:

~ Wisdom sharing; What is the festival of Beltane? How can it help us to be alive to the stories we are living? How might it become the portal through which we can ignite the fires of our imagination, supporting us to shape both our interior and exterior landscapes?

~ Talking circle

~ Beltane visualisation to kindle the seasonal fires of the imagination

~ Gentle ritual

~ Fire blessing

~ Warm drinks and snacks

Earth Kin offerings are suitable for those of all faiths and none, and this circle is open to women 18 years old and over from all walks of life.

Come together with like-minded women and embrace the igniting spirit of the season . . . we hope to see you there!

Terms and conditions of booking:

TICKET SALES

  • As a very small team, we are unable to support ticket refunds, thank you for your understanding.

PARKING

  • Lift sharing is encouraged where possible, as we have a limited number of car parking spaces in the top car park.
  • On arrival, when turning into the road that leads to the Ancient Technology Centre (ATC), please keep Cranborne Middle School on your right and keep driving to the top of the lane, where you will find another car park and the main office (it looks like a big mobile hut.) Please park here if possible.
  • If there is no room in the top car park, there is roadside parking available in the village. Please do NOT park in the middle school car park at any time - vehicles parked here will be moved on.
  • PLEASE BE AWARE NO VEHICLES MAY STAY ON SITE OVERNIGHT. Rogue vehicles will be moved on.

ACCESSIBILITY

  • If you would like us to reserve you a Blue Badge space in the top car park, please email us by midnight on Thursday 2nd May.
  • There is an additional lane and a size-able grassy area to cross in order to reach the Iron Age Roundhouse, which is at the back of the site, and the ground can get very wet and muddy. Wheelchair users may need further support during the evening to ensure comfort and safety, so please do let us know if you need assistance.
  • The ATC has a strict no dogs policy – among other reasons, this ensures the safety of the sheep who live onsite. However, if you have an assistance dog, please let us know and we will liaise with the ATC team.

ON ARRIVAL

  • Our circle will start promptly at 7pm.
  • If you do not know your way around the ATC site, please gather in the top car park by the main office at 6.45pm so we can escort you safely to the Iron Age Round House at the far back of the site.
  • For those who are familiar with the site, please stick to main pathways and do not venture into working areas or touch equipment.
  • Please note: there is next to no mobile phone signal at the ATC, so we will be unable to liaise via phone if you get lost. Please do familiarise yourself with your route beforehand wherever possible and leave yourself plenty of time.

WHAT TO BRING

  • A torch - the ATC sits beneath a ‘dark skies’ reserve and it can be very dark when entering and exiting the site.
  • The Iron Age Roundhouse has wooden stools and benches for seats, so you may want to be kind to your behind by bringing a cushion to sit on!
  • The ground underfoot onsite is uneven and can be muddy, please do wear appropriate footwear.
  • Warm clothing - and/or snuggly blanket, if you wish - please be aware the ATC is rustic and the buildings and floors are made from natural materials - so there is a high chance of getting things dusty or muddy, or that they will smell of smoke from the fire afterwards - please don't bring your most precious things.
  • Waterproofs if it is raining.
  • Hot drinks will be provided during tea breaks, but if you would like to bring a flask of your own, please do - there can never be too much tea!
  • Hand gel/ sanitiser can be useful.

SITE RESTRICTIONS

  • The Ancient Technology Centrehas a strict no dogs policy – among other reasons, this ensures the safety of the sheep who live onsite. . . with that in mind – be aware there may be sheep poo on the floor!
  • The Ancient Technology Centreoperates a strict no smoking policy to protect its beautiful buildings. Please only smoke in the designated smoking area in the car park by the top office.
