Better Conversations workshops can be accessed by all staff. If you are new to your health and care role, please book onto one of the sessions marked ‘New Starter’. If you are not new to a health and care role, please select one of the other sessions.

The Workshop will give you the opportunity to reflect on how you are feeling and what impact your conversations are having, whilst we stay connected with colleagues and the people of Leeds. Our approach focuses on how staff can support the people of Leeds to be more actively involved in their own health and care, encouraging the collaborative conversations which are central to the way we want to communicate as a city.How do you feel after a difficult conversation?What matters most to you when building a relationship?Where can you add value to your conversations?Join us to spend some protected time reflecting on the reality of your conversations, explore the core communication skills that can enhance your conversations. Share learning and experiences with others.By the end of the session you will be able to:• Understand how conversations link to the 5 person centred care and support principles.• Understand the key skills for a productive conversation.• Understand the dynamics of communication.• Deepen your awareness of your conversations.• Reflect on your own skills when communicating.

<h3>Who we are?</h3>Better Conversations is a coaching programme developed in Leeds to support the health and care workforce in improving the quality of personalised care we offer.Better Conversations has been supporting the health and care workforce across Leeds since 2018, providing space for staff to reflect on their conversations, and explore their communication in a supportive environment. It aims to enable health and care colleagues to deliver and encourage more collaborative conversations, primarily those conversations between a health and care professional and the people of Leeds. The programme supports the workforce to think about how collaborative conversations can empower people to take ownership of their health and care.Better Conversations eLearning self study can be accessed by anybody working in health and care in Leeds, at any level, and from any organisation.
