Better in Person is a series of short plays by five fantastic Northern women written for and set on a Zoom call.
About this event
Better in Person is inspired by conversations that would be ‘better in person’ but are happening online due to the lockdown. The audience are invited to be an online fly on the wall witnessing these intimate, beautiful, sad, uncomfortable, hilarious and always very human conversations, as they take place in real time.
Our digitally commissioned anthology series Better In Person returns this winter with a northern-centric instalment, partnering with acclaimed venues to amplify the voices of northern writers who identify as women. Plagued with harsher lockdown conditions throughout the pandemic, we are keen to offer a platform for these stories to be shared. Bringing together five talented women writers to capture the reality of the North, Better in Person promises to be an eye-opening event.
We are thrilled to be partnering with the Hull Truck Theatre, Live Theatre, Octagon Theatre, and the Stephen Joseph Theatre to make this opportunity possible, commissioning writers who identify as women from Bolton, Bradford, Hull, Newcastle, and Scarborough. The event will be directed by Burn Bright co-founder, Tori Allen-Martin, and the commissioned writers are Shannon Barker, Olivia Hannah, Rachel Hogg, Zoe Iqbal and Kat Rose-Martin.
