Beyond Net Zero to Planet Positive, with Frans Blom and Ruben Bieze
Wednesday 29 June 2022 at 18:30 CEST
DenkWerk is a Dutch independent thinktank that publishes a report on the most pressing issues in Dutch society every six months. Since its conception in 2018, DenkWerk has published nine reports on a variety of topics such as AI, special planning and social unrest, all of which are freely accessible to the (Dutch reading) public. The group consists of senior leaders from diverse backgrounds, ranging from corporate to academic and public administration, and leverages a wide network of topic experts to build their perspective on each different theme.
In their recently published report Voorbij netto-nul naar planet-positief (in Dutch), DenkWerk addresses the challenge for Dutch society to reduce its consumer footprint to a sustainable level within the nine planetary boundaries. The climate/energy transitions that sustainability policies are currently focused on, whilst absolutely necessary, do not solve the entire problem. The actual sustainability challenge is much broader when accounting for ecological impacts beyond climate change (e.g., biodiversity loss or chemical pollution) and the impact of our consumption beyond the country borders (consumption footprint). DenkWerk recognizes that this is a huge challenge on an increasingly short timeline, but feels that it is doable nonetheless.
This event will be presented by Frans Blom and Ruben Bieze and will be kindly hosted by Vattenfall in Amsterdam.
Program:
18:30 - 19:00 Welcome
19:00 - 20:00 Presentation
20:00 - 21:00 Closing drinks
Address:
