What is Beyond the Screen?

Beyond the Screen is an offline evening where people can meet without the distractions of technology! Held on the last Thursday of the month, this event encourages people to foster connections, have meaningful conversations, and engage in social activities that promote community building and mental well-being without the distractions of digital devices. Our first meetups have been a huge success "it was a great evening and I loved playing all the different games especially Jenga, such a laugh"

What's on offer?

Jigsaws, board games, creative projects, conversation starters...feel free to bring your own favourite games or creative projects. All we ask is you leave your tech at home, or at least turn it off and pop it in your bag!

We will have our own private area in the Olive Tree, a lovely country pub with a very warm welcome. Food and drink will be available to purchase from the main bar. Last orders for food will be 8:30

Why?

The benefits of tech free time are well documented:

Improved physical and mental health, enhanced creativity and focus, stronger relationships and better sleep, contributing to a sense of calm and wellbeing.

How many times have you said to your teens "please put your phone down", "are you glued to your phone?", "can we have some time to share as a family?" As parents perhaps we need a different environment to model new behaviours?

Fun can be had without technology, as our first meetups have demonstrated! Come and try it for yourself!

Who is it for?

Anyone who wants a bit of a digital detox. We would love to see families with children 12+, groups of friends, folks on their own, are all welcome. We promote inclusivity, so everyone is welcome!

What are people saying about Beyond the Screen?

"It was great and you are doing a lovely thing. I'm telling everyone about it"

"Thank you for a really fun night out meeting some lovely new people. Can't wait until the next one. I'd better book early though. Can't see many places being left once word gets out."

"Brilliant night, my head hurt from laughing"
