Bird Ringing Demonstration

The Holland Park Ecology Centre is run by the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea's Ecology Service. One of our aims is to promote awareness and understanding of biodiversity and the local environment through formal and informal education. We do this via environmental visits for schools, holiday activities for children and an adults events programme.

Natural History Walks and Talks

Expert led Natural History Walks and Talks run by Holland Park Ecology Centre and aimed at an adult audience.

Each year, professional ornithologist Bill Haines runs a public demonstration of bird ringing. Observe and learn about this process in which birds are humanely caught, recorded and ringed. Bird ringing is an important tool aiding our understanding of bird species and their populations and movements, both locally and internationally.This is a free drop-in event, starting at 7.30am and running until 11am, but be aware that more species are found earlier in the day.
