Perfect for Newbies to #Bitcoin ~ we're calling this one "Zero to Hero - Bitcoin Basics and Beyond with the Lightning Network".
Here's why....
If you are very new to bitcoin we'll start the workshop with Bitcoin Basics run by Matt Baldock [Portsmouth Crypto] who specialises in providing introductory training in cryptocurrencies. Matt's talks get people thinking about money as we know it and starts to explain why Bitcoin matters. It includes navigating the Bitcoin ecosystem, wallets, security & cold storage. Most of all with Matts's session you will get hands on with Bitcoin learn how to use it and above all how to keep it safe.
Next up comes Bitcoin Details with Joe Ratheram [Inspiring Co]. Joe's session lifts the hood on how Bitcoin works and covers all of the underlying elements that are fundamental to many other crypto-currencies. In Joe's session you'll learn the basics of the bitcoin protocol, digital signatures, secure hashing, how transactions are created and how blocks are mined via proof-of-work on the Bitcoin blockchain. At the end of this session you'll understand how blockchains work, what makes them secure why they are so important for more than just money. Moreover you'll understand that the magic of Bitcoin is not blockchains per se but more importantly distributed consensus, permission-less innovation, security incentives and social reward
Armed with this knowledge you will have a pretty good insight into what makes cryptocurrencies and blockchains tick. What they do well, where this nascent technology may be applied, how the technology has developed - and crucially - where we go next.
So to complete the trilogy we have Beyond Bitcoin with The Lightning Network by Max Flores [Bitcoin Manchester]. A battle scarred veteran of the Bitcoin space. His experience will offer you a bleeding edge insight into what comes next. Max will get into next level developments in the Bitcoin protocol resulting from SegWit activation. A high level overview of the Lightning Network, how it works for those who are new to the system and a live hands on demonstration of payment channels where you will have the opportunity to download a Lightning App and try the network out for yourself.
We'll finish with a Q&A/AMA where you can ask Matt, Max & Joe anything you want about cryptocurrencies but were afraid to ask.

The ticket price is set to a minimum to cover the costs of room hire, food and travel for the lecturers. This type of training content can often cost a lot more commercially. You get copies of the slides to keep for reference after the event.
