Activities on the nightThe Psychology of Sex?A series of short talks on the evolution of mating preferences and sex differences in mating behaviours. Led by Dr Rebecca Owens and Dr Mark Ord, University of Sunderland X and Y: Sex and Why?Jump into the world of developmental anatomy – what shapes our internal and external anatomy. Just as we are different on the outside, we are different on the inside. Led by Dr Mo Alabry, University of Sunderland.(Seminal) Ejaculation StationTake the journey of a sperm through the development of seminal fluid. Learn about the many elements that equip the sperm for its arduous journey after leaving the body! Led by Alice Roberts, University of Sunderland.Menstruation StationFollow the pathway of a human egg cell and learn about the structures it will pass through on its way to fertilisation or menstruation. Led by Dr Meena Swamy, Newcastle University.Hips Don’t LieWe can learn so much from the size and shape of the pelvic bones. Through various interactive activities you will investigate the secrets the pelvic bones can hold, including how they have evolved over time and how they vary between people. Led by Dr Emma Saunders, Newcastle University.External Genitalia in ClayUsing clay, you will create your own model or representation of the external genitalia. The creative process will allow you to learn about the different features and anatomical terms of the external genitalia as you create your own piece of art. Led by Hannah Swainson, Newcastle University and Evie Donald, University of Sunderland.Neurobiology: Sex on the BrainDiscover how the nervous system links to sex and arousal. Led by Dr Bas Olthof, Newcastle University and Dr Tom Butts, University of Sunderland.Talking Terminology: A journey through the history of anatomical languageThe language we use to describe sex and pelvic anatomy has changed and developed significantly over time. Learn about anatomical terminology versus the slang used to describe our bits and bobs, and explore the history of such terminology. Led by Dr Emily Green, Newcastle University.How Cliterate are you?Do you really know where it and what is function is? Led by Georgia Longhurst, St George's, University of London.T﻿his event is part of a series of events taking place in the build-up to <a href="https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/world-anatomy-day-tickets-680783711407?aff=oddtdtcreator">World Anatomy Day</a> on 15th October.
